<br/><br/>A review of the geology and thermodynamics of the Ahuachapan Geothermal Field is give. The intensive mass extraction of the steam-water mixture started after the first unit began operating. The total mass extraction  until August 1978, reach 50.478 kilotons. A continuous program of measurements was made in order to obtain a complete history of pressures, temperatura, and chemistry changes of the  reservoir fluids as a result of the controlled extraction -  reinjection system.
