Good Practice Study on GHG-Inventories for the Waste Sector in Non-Annex I Countries - Berlin: GIZ, 2015 - 49 p.

The purpose of this study is to support the preparation of GHG inventories in the waste sector through good practice examples which can be adopted in other countries. It is meant as a complement to the IPCC Guidelines and other training materials and shows how some common problems have been solved in different countries. It provides an overview of the relevant IPCC Guidelines for general GHG inventory preparation and provides guidance and compiles examples mainly from Non Annex I countries on the development of GHG inventories specific to the waste sector. Based on the Guidelines and country examples specific recommendations are given for all source categories within the waste sector. In addition the study analyses the interlinkages between inventories and emission mitigation actions in the sector and gives an overview of different models and data sources for waste inventories. While national conditions in each country are different, there are some common problems such as lack of activity data, incomplete information, lack of capacity, and limited resources for inventory development.
