<br/><br/>This paper looks at the problems of attempting to ask whether peasant systems are sustainable. While there is need for more rigorous analysis of sustainability issues, there is a limited outlook for an approach based on indicators. There are problems of extrapolating results from very detailed plot-based studies. Peasant systems are politically-guided management systems, whose boundaries are the state, not the field nor the farm...
