In view of the rising costs for fossil fuel an the realization that such fuel are exhaustible, increasing attention has been focused an the earths heat as a source if energy. It has been estimated that geotermal resources in the United States alone could produce 140.000 megawatts of the equivalent of 140 nuclear generating units. However, there are unsolved problems associatede with utilizing geothermal brines to produce energy.
