The Marine Farm Project is studying problems of kelp production in the near - surface layers of the deep sea. The ultimate objetive is bioconversion of solar energy. Our experiments have established that help growth al offshore locations is atrongly limited by availability of dissolved nutrients. We are currently investigating nutrient requirements of kelp to guide fertilizing programs for marine farms.
