Most emphasis on waterhyacinth research has dealt with contros of the plant (chemical, biological, cultural and integrates), or with aspects of waterhyacinth biology and distribution. Several countries have recently begun to investigate seriously using waterhyacinth, plant abundace and cost of cultivation and harvesting will be of prime importance.
